Who We Are
December 17, 2018In the dynamic landscape of Africa’s power industry, CET Power Projects has emerged as a frontrunner, pioneering innovative solutions in power generation, transmission, and distribution. Originating in Nigeria, the company has built a formidable reputation for its flexibility, reliability, and the ability to deliver tailor-made power solutions promptly. While firmly rooted in traditional fuel technologies, CET Power is undergoing a remarkable transformation, steering its focus towards renewable energy solutions to meet the international investment demands for the region in cleaner and sustainable power.
The core strength of CET Power lies in its commitment to client-centric services, adhering to international operational standards and a relentless pursuit of technological advancement. This ground breaking initiative seeks to revolutionize West Africa’s energy landscape by creating cleaner and more cost-effective LNG solutions, thereby reducing the region’s dependence on diesel for industrial and mining power.
‘Project Virt Gas’ involves the development of small-scale liquefaction sites near upstream gas production facilities, aiming to offer a cleaner, more affordable energy alternative. The strategic location of the first site in Ogbele, Rivers state, underscores CET Power’s dedication to driving economic growth in the region. By liquefying natural gas in southeast Nigeria and transporting it to clients using LNG-fuelled trucks or vessels, we aim to provide a game-changing solution in a region where diesel has been the predominant power source.
The underlying philosophy of Project Virt Gas is to use cheaper, cleaner natural gas as a substitute for diesel – the prevalent fuel source for industrial and mining power in West Africa. But our vision goes beyond offering a cheaper and cleaner fuel source. In one project we have looked at down the coast of Africa – we found that the cost of landed and regased LNG energy to be about 55% of the cost of equivalent diesel. Providing a unique financial advantage to off-takers by granting them significant visibility on their energy costs. By fixing the price of our feed gas and therefore our LNG for up to 10 years, we offer an energy source with a negligible volatility risk over an extended period.
CET Power’s solutions in renewable energy align with a broader global trend towards sustainability. The imperative transition to renewable energy is underscored by the need to reduce environmental footprints and carbon emissions. By embracing renewable energy sources, CET Power is not only contributing to a cleaner environment but also positioning its clients to secure valuable carbon credits. This transition is a strategic move that not only reduces the cost of sustainable power but also fosters a sustainable and ecologically responsible business model.
In a world increasingly focused on environmental sustainability, this shift to renewable energy resonates with conscious consumers and contributes to our clients’ impact and reputation as positive corporate citizens. The ability to accumulate carbon credits through a renewable energy supply system adds a financial dimension to sustainability, creating a win-win scenario for businesses looking to lower their environmental impact while enjoying the economic benefits.
CET Power’s impressive track record, spanning over 100 sites in 20 years, showcases its commitment to powering growth and facilitating economic development across Africa. The company’s expansion beyond Nigeria, with successful projects commissioned throughout Africa, solidifies its position as a leading player in the industry.
The strength of CET Power lies not only in its reliable outsourced power solutions for industrial-scale operations but also in its ability to integrate renewable energy into its offerings. The custom-built power plant solutions based on client needs and specifications demonstrate the company’s adaptability and commitment to meeting the unique energy requirements of its diverse clientele.
The professional team in place to run the operation and maintenance of CET Power Plants, coupled with a fleet of Africa-based power generation units for rapid support, ensures the reliability and efficiency of its services.
In conclusion, CET Power Project’s transition into renewable energy is not just a strategic business move; it’s a commitment to a sustainable and cleaner future for Africa. Our transition initiative, ‘Project Virt Gas’, and the broader shift towards renewable energy solutions demonstrates CET Power’s commitment to innovate in the industry. As the world looks towards greener alternatives, CET Power is willing and ready to contribute meaningfully in the charge towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious era for power delivery in Africa.
We are excited about the possibilities that renewable energy holds, and our teams eagerly await the opportunity to discuss this transformative journey further. If you share our vision for a greener future, we invite you to connect with us at this year’s 2024 Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa. Together, let’s shape a future where power is not just a necessity but a force for positive change.
